Vero Recruitment has been exclusively appointed by a highly innovative, technology-led engineering business to recruit an Accountant based in Aberdeen.

Who is our client:

Our client is a rapidly growing Scottish business operating at the forefront of the renewables, subsea, decommissioning, and energy sectors. With a strong reputation for engineering excellence and innovation, the organisation designs, manufactures, and operates specialist technology solutions for clients across global markets.

Over the past three years, the business has experienced significant growth, doubling turnover while continuing to invest heavily in both people and infrastructure. With international expansion ongoing and a collaborative, high-performing culture firmly established, this is an incredibly exciting time to join the organisation.

The company places a strong emphasis on innovation, continuous improvement, and creating an environment where employees are empowered to develop, contribute, and thrive.

The role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager (Subsea), the Accountant will provide operational support across the finance function within a dynamic and fast-evolving business environment.

This is a newly created role that will play a key part in supporting the continued development of financial processes and scalable frameworks as the organisation continues to grow internationally. The position offers broad exposure across multiple areas of finance and will suit someone who enjoys variety, working with data, and operating within a highly collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with Finance Managers and operational stakeholders to support day-to-day accounting activities, improve workflows, and ensure the integrity of financial information across the business.

Key duties will include:

  • Supporting the accurate entry and processing of financial data within the accounting system
  • Processing multi-currency accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Preparing journals, accruals, and prepayments to support month-end activities
  • Supporting global project invoicing and intercompany recharge processes
  • Preparing payroll allocations and payroll journals
  • Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple currency accounts
  • Assisting with VAT returns, statutory filings, and audit preparation
  • Supporting the maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Collaborating with Finance Managers to improve and streamline financial workflows and processes

Who are we looking for:

This role is ideally suited to an experienced accountant with previous experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within a multi-entity, international, engineering, or project-based environment. Applications are also welcomed from candidates in practice looking for a progressive first move into industry.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical capability, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working with large datasets and financial systems. Strong Excel skills are essential.

Equally important is a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, alongside the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

What’s on offer:

In addition to a highly competitive salary and benefits package, this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking and ambitious business during a particularly exciting period of growth.

The organisation offers a collaborative and supportive culture, flexible working policies, private medical insurance, bonus potential, salary sacrifice car scheme, and genuine long-term career development opportunities.
