Financial Accountant - Aberdeen

Ref: 59 Date Posted: Wednesday 07 Jul 2021

Vero is working exclusively with Inspire PTL in Aberdeen, a leading provider in the field of learning disability and other support needs, to recruit an experienced accountant into the role of Financial Accountant.

Background:

Since 1988, Inspire has been empowering the life choices of people with learning disabilities and additional support needs, including autism, across the North East of Scotland. Inspire provides a range of services in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Moray including residential care, supported accommodation, training for employment initiatives and respite.

Inspire supports people in a variety of settings, from enabling individuals and their families to plan for current and future support needs using person centred planning, to providing self-directed support to help people achieve their chosen outcomes.

Role overview:

Due to retirement, Inspire is looking to hire a Financial Accountant – who not only cares about doing a great job but who also recognises the positive impact that doing their job well will have on the organisation. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the finance team.

In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the finance department and all financial processing including purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash books. With the amazing work that Inspire does, the Financial Accountant will ensure that all team members are paid on time and accurately, as this is of great importance to them. This is why, working collaboratively with the People team, your involvement in overseeing the collation of payroll information is another crucial aspect of the role.

Working closely with the management accountant, you will also provide support as a finance business partner for allocated areas/departments; providing financial information and support to colleagues across the organisation as required. This will include assisting with finance training to help ensure that colleagues across Business Support and the managers of their services are equipped with the finance related knowledge they require to best do their jobs. Along with this you will also work with services and colleagues from other functions to ensure all internal audit practice is fit for purpose and compliant with legislation.

This post also involves some line management within the Finance team. Being able to support and develop colleagues through proactive management and coaching is another very important part of the job.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is either fully, part, or qualified by experience. You may have some experience in Health & Social Care and/ or charity accounting but this is not essential.

As important as your experience and ability to hit the ground running in what is a busy role is also alignment to Inspire’s organisational values: Trustworthy, inclusive, collaborative, empowering and respectful. You will have a ‘sleeves rolled up’ attitude and be willing to muck in. You will be passionate and empathetic with a real will to succeed.

Remuneration:

£36,000 - £38,000 per annum

Job satisfaction…..priceless!

Working hours:

Flexible, with reduced hours also considered.

A truly unique opportunity for an experienced accountant who is looking to join an organisation with a real sense of purpose and meaning at its core. Working with a fantastic group of people, the position suits an individual who is looking to make a tangible difference.
