Financial Accountant - Aberdeen

Role overview:

 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful individual will undertake the role of the Financial Accountant and be accountable for everything in relation to the day-to-day operations for Accounts Payables and Receivables.

 

In addition, the Financial Accountant will be accountable for the preparation and co-ordination of month-end accounts. Included in the preparation will be variance commentary to budget/forecast for all Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and cashflow statements.

 

Within the remit, the Financial Accountant will lead, motivate and mentor two finance staff. You will be a key member of the Finance Team and will ensure all relevant stakeholders receive accurate, timely and reliable information.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Accountable for preparation of monthly management accounts

• Lead and motivate team to deliver on all aspects that you are accountable for

• Spend time mentoring the team to ensure they understand the ‘how and why’ of what they do

• Accountable for the day-to-day management of sales invoicing and cash collection, ensuring all invoices are raised accurately and on time. Continuously reviewing debtor listing to ensure all debt is collected on time and where necessary seeking assistance with any problematic debt

• Accountable for the day-to-day management of accounts payable ensuring all invoices are processed and paid in a timely accurate manner

• Prepare and report against rolling forecast

• Preparation of ad-hoc financial and management information as requested by all stakeholders

• Preparation of report on performance against key performance indicators

• Preparation of year-end stats and tax pack

• Be part of the year-end audit team which will be led by the Finance Manager

• Assist in the preparation of monthly Board Pack

• Meet with budget holders to discuss their results and advise on how they can influence their numbers

• Preparing and analysing Balance Sheet and cashflow

• Accountable for preparation of 13-week cash flow forecast

• Prepare and issue weekly/monthly reports in relation to debtors and creditors

• Review systems and financial controls continuously to identify areas of improvement

• Assist Finance Manager with preparation of annual budget

• Involved in any ad-hoc projects and provide training on all areas to other Balmoral entities

• Undertake ad-hoc finance tasks during the month-end or year-end process

 

Who are we looking for:

 

• Qualified by experience, part qualified or fully qualified considered

• Previous experience in a similar role preparing accounts from trial balance to a management accounts pack is essential

• Experience of direct line management essential

• Analytical approach

• Autonomous, self-starter with impeccable attention to detail

• Highly personable, positive and engaging

• Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
