Vero Recruitment has been exclusively appointed by a leading international energy consultancy to recruit a qualified accountant into the role of Financial Controller, based in Aberdeen. The role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance, with close working relationships with both the CEO and a range of Group stakeholders, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day to day running of the finance team.

The role has become available due to the upcoming retirement of the existing Financial Controller, who has been part of the business for a lengthy period of time.

The Financial Controller will be given the opportunity to help shape and develop the finance function moving forward, using technology to help to automate and to drive efficiencies.

Duties:

Form a close working relationship with the Head of Finance, CEO, senior executives and operational leaders

Oversee and manage finance and accounting team (3 members) covering billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting and revenue recognition

Prepare and analyse timely monthly management accounts for senior leadership and Board members

Coordinate year-end audit activities and other regulatory reporting matters (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax) by collaborating with external advisors and Group-level resource

Manage cash flow, including forecasting and liaising with Group treasury on requirements

Manage the implementation of a new finance system ensuring alignment across all departments and effective financial reporting

Enhance existing business processes and improve documentation to maintain and strengthen internal controls

 

Who are we looking for:

Fully qualified essential

Previous experience in either practice or industry considered

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis and compliance regulations

Analytical and problem-solving skills  

Appetite to develop existing team members and take on additional responsibilities

Strong communicator with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
