Financial Controller - Aberdeen

Vero has been engaged exclusively by an international service company to recruit a recently qualified accountant into the role of Financial Controller. Our client has been providing the energy industry with a range of high quality products and services for over 40 years. Backed by a leading private equity firm, our client continues to seek expansion opportunities both domestically and internationally.

 

Following a department reorganisation our client is looking to hire a recently qualified accountant into the role of Financial Controller. Applications are welcomed from practice trained accountants seeking a varied, challenging and rewarding first move into a highly successful energy business. Applications are also welcomed from recently qualified accountants who have trained in industry.

 

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reporting for the group and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The job holder will also be responsible for providing support to the commercial and IT functions of the business where necessary.

 

In addition, the role will be expected to contribute widely in other areas of the business and provide support to the FD, CFO and other members of the business as required.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Finance & Compliance

 

Preparation of group monthly and annual accounts with appropriate analysis, ensuring these are accurately completed in a timely manner

Coordination of the annual financial audit for the group, including preparation of year-end audit files

Support the FD in tax matters

Preparation of weekly cash flow forecast

Coordination of weekly reporting of financial results, and consolidation of these within a Group weekly report

Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met

Ensures credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts

Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions

Uphold and promote the company’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity, HSE

Provide financial input to commercial and strategic initiatives

Provide financial input to the budgeting and reforecasting process

Ensure the board have accurate financial information in order to support their decision making

Oversee and ensure reconciliation of intercompany balances and ensure foreign currency transactions and balances are translated appropriately

Continuously look for areas of improvement in the finance function and the business generally to make a meaningful contribution to the businesses performance

Any other reasonable duties as required

 

IT

 

Provide assistance to ensure appropriate and robust systems are maintained by the group to improve working efficiency

Liaise with external parties to ensure full support for the groups IT function

 

General

 

Foster a culture of constructive challenge and openness to change

To actively gain an understanding of the business at all levels

Supporting business improvement initiatives

Any other tasks that the business may deem as appropriate or crucial to service excellence
