Fixed Asset Accountant - Aberdeen

Vero has been appointed by a leading organisation to recruit a recently qualified accountant into the newly created role of Fixed Asset Accountant. Our client seeks newly to three years post qualified Chartered Accountants who are looking to make their first progressive move into industry.

The role:

 

There is a continued drive towards ensuring a consistently high standard of management accountancy practices throughout the Group. There are several business-as-usual tasks and new projects planned to strengthen the Group’s accounting processes and policies. This role plays a key part in supporting: continuous improvement; accurate accounting within existing controls and policies, as well as helping implement new ways of working.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Responsibility for fixed asset accounting across the division
  • Management of WIP/AUC accounts and provisions
  • Responsibility for tracking capital grants received and expected
  • Posting of periodic fixed asset journals
  • Close working with Financial Operations for processing of additions and disposals
  • Depreciation forecasting/budgeting, with potential to help develop forecasting of capex spend and grants expected
  • Developing ways of integrating current reporting/processes to create efficiencies
  • Ensure relevant balance sheet accounts are reconciled each period
  • Prepare any relevant analysis in line with group accounting policies to support auditing efforts, and to support colleagues as required with the production of statutory accounts
  • Ownership of source data for all relevant financial records covering actuals, budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare year-end tax support information
  • Develop, implement and maintain spreadsheet models in line with standardised processes and local terms
  • Attendance at key stakeholder meetings as required
  • Support delivery of a robust internal control environment ensuring compliance with all internal procedures and reporting standards
  • Line managing duties for one direct report

Consideration will be given to qualified accountant in practice seeking a highly progressive move into industry. Qualified accountants with an industry background are also encouraged to apply if you can demonstrate transferable skills.
