Group Accountant - Aberdeen

Vero has been appointed exclusively by a leading international energy services company to recruit a driven, career minded accountant into the role of Group Accountant.

 

Who are we looking for:

 

You will be fully qualified (ideally within the past few years), or part qualified and actively studying. You may be looking for a first move into a progressive industry role from practice or you could be working in a similar role in industry.

 

The successful applicant will have strong numeracy and organisational skills coupled with a high level of Excel competence.

The role of Group Accountant:

 

Our client presents this exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced department supporting a range of finance activities. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the role will provide support to the Group Finance team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Take overall responsibility for the accounting for Corporate Overheads, including preparation of management accounts, budgets and forecasts for the support functions within the UK
  • Provide variance reporting to heads of departments to understand spend against budget and forecast, and prepare ad-hoc analysis as required to support with financial decision making
  • Oversee the payroll function, including preparation of P11d and PSA returns as well as processing necessary journals and performing Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Assume responsibility for the reporting of Balance Sheet and cash flows, liaising with operational teams to ensure adherence to process
  • Perform working capital analysis to explain cash movements
  • Prepare VAT 100 reporting
  • Prepare the statutory accounts, audit and tax files
  • Produce monthly intercompany reports highlighting unreconciled balances and pursuing relevant business accountants to ensure balances are reconciled monthly and settled as funds allow
  • Maintain the fixed asset register including lease arrangements and associated IFRS 16 documentation to support the reporting requirements under new UK GAAP
  • Support the group finance function with ad[1]hoc projects
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
