Head of Finance - Aberdeen

Vero has been exclusively appointed by a leading high-growth business based in Aberdeen to recruit a Head of Finance to lead and to develop the finance function, acting as a true business partner to management.

The role:

 

The Head of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Finance teams across the global business, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and for supporting the broader strategy and impact of the Finance function.

 

Responsible for all aspects of the Financial Accounting team and the preparation of monthly financial accounts, annual accounts, cash / treasury management and financial reporting for all companies and subsidiaries.

 

•            Preparation of monthly financial accounts including P&L review and analysis and including the preparation of group consolidated financial accounts

•            To ensure that the level of aged debt and cash management is a key focus for the department, including income maximisation

•            Responsible for Financial forecasting and covenant management with direct support via FP&A

•            Maintain the integrity of all balance sheets through regular bank and GL account reconciliations

•            Preparation of tax returns including VAT and CT

•            Co-ordinate annual audit planning, execution and preparation of year end statutory accounts

•            Developing and implementing improvements to reporting, accounting procedures, processes and controls for financial accounting and cash management

•            Systems – to continuously improve the processes of the department’s ERP and other business systems

•            Team development – to establish the correct structure and roles required to operate an efficient and cost-effective finance department

•            Influence at all levels and build strong inter-department relationships

•            Preparation of ad hoc financial reports and special projects work as and when required

•            Be a senior business partner and support the Exco as a senior manager within the business

•            Support the development of the strategic plan for the global business

 

Other aspects of the work of the Finance function:

 

•            Liaison with the FP&A team to support effective reporting, budgeting and insights

•            Other finance activities across all locations

•            Involvement with assessment, integration and reporting of acquisitions

•            Involvement with CoSec/governance responsibilities for all locations

 

Finance team leadership:

 

•            Leader and role model for the Finance function and senior management

•            Point of escalation and voice of reason for the Finance team

•            Drive a strong and positive culture across the function

•            Deputise for CFO as required

•            Engage across the business with ExCo and senior leaders to support their business activities

•            Lead and/or contribute as needed on projects and special activities

•            Represent the Finance function externally as needed, including with customers and suppliers

 

 

The Head of Finance will play a critical role in helping our client to achieve their significant growth targets as they scale exponentially over the next two to three years.
