Interim Tax Manager - Aberdeen

Vero has been engaged by a global service company to recruit an Interim Tax Manager. Our client will consider applicants based anywhere in the UK who would like to take on the contract on a fully remote, working from home basis. The Interim Tax Manager will cover maternity leave for a period of around nine months with an expected start of March or early April 2021.

 

Reporting to the Head of Tax and working closely with the tax team, the Tax Manager is responsible for tax advice and planning as well as compliance support and review for the UK and overseas operations of the Group across multiple jurisdictions and is responsible for providing advice and support on specific areas of tax.

 

Areas of Responsibility:

 

• Provide support on all tax activities within allocated areas and countries

• Provide interim tax support in relation to bids and other commercial contracts

• Manage tax audits and ongoing compliance for UK and overseas entities

• Provide interim support to the tax team on a variety of project work including internal restructuring, close out of refinancing project, company liquidations

 

Key Tasks:

 

• Day-to-day responsibility for managing tax issues relating to the UK and overseas entities to include corporate tax, WHT and deemed profits tax

• Research tax technical points and evaluate the impact of conclusions on the Group or entities

• Support the Senior Tax Managers and Head of Tax on M&A, transfer pricing and other projects

• Provide commercially focussed tax advice to finance and commercial managers on bids, new business opportunities and other projects

• Manage tax audits, providing guidance to local teams and ensuring accurate and appropriate disclosure is made to the tax authorities

• Manage, maintain and report tax risks for allocated entities

• Review tax returns for allocated entities to ensure technical accuracy and consistency with Group policy (compliance is outsourced)

• Review tax packs and ensure these are accurate and reflected in the local / Group accounts

• Support members of other finance areas in areas such as VAT

• Other ad hoc responsibilities as required

 

Key Skills & Experience

 

• Chartered Accountant with relevant tax experience or Chartered Tax Adviser

• Good accounting skills

• Understanding of financial implications of tax transactions on the Group’s financial performance and reporting

• Experience of both UK and international corporate tax

• Awareness of VAT useful

• Good knowledge of excel and other MS packages
