Senior Accountant (Interim) - Exploration & Production - Aberdeen

Vero has been appointed exclusively by an independent Exploration & Production company in Aberdeen to recruit a Senior Accountant. Our client is led by a team of industry experts who have a clear strategy to focus on high quality, low cost, long life assets on the UK Continental Shelf. Since inception our client has grown rapidly through key strategic acquisitions and their interests now include several of the UK’s largest assets. The position is offered on an initial interim basis, with a preference for part time/reduced hours. Would suit an experienced accountant with experience gained in a small to medium sized operator, looking to return to work or looking to gain a better work/life balance.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in a small collaborative team.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Produce monthly operated JV billings
  • Review and posting of non-operated billings
  • Review and analyse all inputs to operated billings, including review of VOWD with asset teams
  • Monthly reconciliation of JV billings with the ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review incoming forecast updates from operators and actual spend to date on non-op assets and incorporate in monthly Corporate Cash Flow Forecast
  • Analyse monthly actuals v latest forecast on JV asset cost lines and provide updates to monthly Corporate Cash Flow Forecast
  • Produce monthly operated JV cash calls (no assets currently in cash call phase, potential future activity)
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations (for JV banks, none currently held, potential future activity)
  • Prepare Partner Budget documents and finance inputs for OCM/Fincom presentations
  • Support Financial Controller with incoming partner JV audits
  • Preparation of Journals for month end close
  • Maintain supporting documents for month end closing adjustments
  • Assist with preparation of year end accounts, preparation of annual statutory financial statements including reconciliation of statutory accounts with management accounts and liaising with auditors as required
  • Prepare analysis sheets and reconciliation for annual audit / statutory reporting
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of general ledger structure, and Business Rules 
  • Involvement in process improvement projects, and owner of process/procedures within area of responsibility
  • Backup for Accounts payable assistant (including understanding of company’s P2P processes)
  • Assist Supply Chain on POs/contracts coding
  • Other ad-hoc duties as and when requested

 

 

Who are we looking for:

 

  • University degree in a relevant subject
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) preferred
  • Experience gained in an operator environment, small independent preferred  
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
  • Proficient in MS office (MS Excel in particular).
