UK Operations Finance Manager - Aberdeen

Vero has been exclusively engaged to recruit an ambitious accountant into the highly visible and critical role of UK Operations Finance Manager. Working with a fantastic team of finance professionals, in a collaborative and flexible environment, the successful individual will work closely with the UK Finance Director as well as the General Managers for a range of their Business Streams.

The role:

Reporting to the Finance Director UK, with a functional line report to the UK Head/GM of Business Streams, the UK Operations Finance Manager is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting functions, risk management, and commercial reviews of relevant UK Business Streams.

The UK finance team is a highly collaborative, professional, and high-performing group, who act as business partners to our client's diverse range of service lines.

  • Responsible for timely, accurate and reliable financial reporting and management information within the relevant business. Expected to understand and challenge the business, ensuring future business changes are planned for
  • Develop, deploy and monitor appropriate benchmarking KPIs to monitor performance of sites and service lines
  • Responsible for ensuring budgets and forecasts are properly prepared, understood and submitted in accordance with UK and Group deadlines
  • Responsible for the line management of Senior Accountants specific to each Business Stream
  • Responsible for the overall planning, development and management of activities for each member of the relevant finance team, ensuring people are developed and then deployed in an efficient and cost-effective basis
  • Driving internal control initiatives through the business areas and ensuring financial processes and systems comply with relevant policies and requirements
  • Responsible for the Balance Sheets of the business areas and ensuring staff prepare proper and timely reconciliations. Support Group Finance in the preparation of year-end and statutory return information
  • Ensure a high level of focus is maintained in respect of cash and identify areas where cash control can be improved, working with business teams to deliver these improvements
  • Support business managers and accountants in the submission for approval, reporting and forecasting capital expenditure, including developing robust business cases
  • Key liaison between the relevant business and the commercial / tendering function
  • Add value by identifying opportunities to reduce costs or improve revenues

 

Who are we looking for:

  • Professionally qualified accountant essential (suits a qualified accountant looking to develop into their first or second operationally focused financial management role)
  • Previous experience in a similar role essential
  • Awareness of potential challenges and differences from operating in a variety of geographical locations and tax/legal jurisdictions
  • Solutions based with strong planning, organising and numerical skills, and an excellent attention to detail
  • Accustomed to working effectively in a fast paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure
